Some call if the Oscars of the Fashion but sometimes it looks more like a three ringed circus. But that one Monday night each year in early May attracts hundreds of A-list actors, Wall Street Execs & Fashion Designers like moths to a fabulous flame at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the undisputed fashion event of the year: The Met Gala.
Known as the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute benefit, this “party” is actually a significant fundraiser, last years event raised $12 Million. This year’s Met Gala with the theme China: Through the Looking Glass is set to be just as much of a success including some of our favorite looks from the red carpet. Let’s take a look at our best dressed Met Gala 2015.
Rihanna - Guo Pei
Rihanna gets point for going there literally. She personally researched Chinese Couture before finding this dress. She was interviewed on the Red Carpet & revealed “I love this dress so much! It’s Chinese couture and it’s made by Guo Pei. It’s handmade by one Chinese woman and it took her two years to make. I found it online.”
Beyonce - Givenchy
After last years somber Givenchy look, Beyoncé was not going to shy away from grabbing our attention. Was her eye catching Givenchy barely there beaded dressed merely a decoy incase Solange got out of hand again? Either way she looked #Flawless topsy tail & all.
Kim Kardashian - Roberto Cavalli
For being a fashion girl, I usually think Kim Kardashian fails at red carpets. I really cannot think of any red carpet moment of hers that I love, until now. Sure the Roberto Cavalli extravaganza implements every trick in the book. It is a little over done, but isn’t that Cavalli & Kim? I think the dress fits beautifully.
Kendall Jenner - Calvin Klein
Not surprisingly the newest face for Calvin Klein, sensation Kendal Jenner showed up rocking a green beaded gown and plenty of side boob. The dress really took on a different life when you caught it from different angles. I really like that she should out for all the right reasons without being over the top. Well played Kendal.
Jennifer Lopez - Versace
I heard a rumor that any red carpet Jennifer Lopez attends has three fire trucks on hand, because she always sets the red carpet on fire. So we have come to expect these types of numbers from JLo. Barely there & lots of bling. She is gorgeous & it works on her, why miss with a winning recipe. I love this Versace on her & think it integrates into the theme perfectly.
Naomi Campbell - Burberry
Naomi’s Burberry gown seemed to defy gravity as does her body. Everything was perfectly placed for one of the more interesting looks of the night. The mesh panels were strategically placed without being too strategic. I think it was a smart move to open up the dress an show off her beautiful cleavage, it offsets the fact that there is a lot going on below and brings focus to her gorgeous face. She looked as good going givigns some of the photogs a bit of cheek. Take note Madonna this is the Chic way to show Cheek.
Cher - Marc Jacobs
Cher has been MIA for a bit with some rumored health problems, but you would never know the way she showed up looking fabulous & flawless in Marc Jacobs. We need more Cher, do you agree?
Kate Hudson - Michael Kors
Kate Hudson is always on our best dressed list. I was expecting to see her in white but gladly welcome this gistening gold Michael Kors dress. I loved seeing gold on the red carpet last night, a stunning combination for the Chinese theme. I choose a close up of Kate because I really appreciate this sequin fabric on Kate and her styling is just enough for me.
Kerry Washington - Prada
Pretty in Pink Prada. So Happy to see Kerry on the best dressed list, she has had a hard time finding her way there lately with a dismal award season showing. I love that she went with the drama of a full on gown, why not, it's the Met Gala.
Karolina Kurkova - Tommy Hilfiger
It may be unconventional to wear a mini dress to the Met Gala, but nothing risked is nothing gained. This Tommy Hilfiger dress is a party dress and looks perfect on Karolina while still integrating the theme.
Jennifer Connelly Louis Vuitton
White lace & Shoulder pads could have made you think this years theme was 80’s brides of yesteryear, but I think Jennifer looked stunning in Louis Vuitton. The dress is a bit much but she kept her styling clean & simple. I do wish the leaves were just a touch shorter. That's all.
Cara Delevingne - Stella McCartney
Another fashion it girl who took a risk & many are probably still cursing, but it is Cara Delevigne. If someone is going to get away with a Stella McCartney jumpsuit & body tattoos it is going to be Cara. Miley is probably wishing she thought of this first.
Gigi Hadid & Karlie Kloss
Rosie Huntington Whitely
